A large-scale Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solution to improve access to Greater Paris Area
The objective is to guarantee better access to jobs, public services, retail, etc, considering that :
Rising rents and the concentration of jobs around a limited number of hubs cause an increase in distances between people’s homes and their work, and the personal car is the main means of transport used for the longest trips.
Example: below is a heat map of the journey times of people wishing to get to La Défense (a major business district in the Paris region) at 9.15 am.
Mobility services are concentrated in urban centres. The PT (public transport) service offering is often insufficient to meet capacity outside these hubs and does not allow people living in the outskirts to leave their cars at home.
Outside Paris, the working population uses a personal car for between 50% and 90% of their journeys.
The Paris region public transport authority Île de France Mobilités (IDFM) is progressively introducing effective alternatives to private cars to meet these needs (requiring infrastructure conversion and the reinforcement of mass transit services).
Cityway and Transdev, working with Île de France Mobilités and industrial partners, have launched a MaaS project to publish information on all available mobility services, help PTAs establish and evaluate their policies, and optimise transport networks

An efficient real-time multimodal trip planner and management solution for Greater Paris Area
A high quality management model using an intelligent transport system
Designing high quality information and regulation services for the benefit of users, PTAs and operators, through:
- the creation and aggregation of reliable data,
- in real time and predictively
- and which take into consideration all modes of private and public mobility.
This is the ambition of Île de France Mobilités, to improve access to public services, workplaces, shops and other essential facilities.
3 new services developed:
- a multimodal satellite-positioned trip planner, interfacing with the vehicle, incorporating live ridesharing
- a mobility observatory and mobility advisory solutions
- optimisation of the network using predictive methods
m2i: a Maas project on an unprecedented scale
The m2i project is being jointly developed by IDFM and Cityway, and conducted with 12 partners: other PTAs, private firms, a public laboratory and start-ups
On completion, 4 billion data per day will be collected in real time over the entire Ile-de-France region and used and analysed for the use and benefit of passengers, PTAs and networks.
The investment of 13 million euros is co-financed by PIA-ADEME, the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and the project’s partners.
The project represents 3 years of co-construction, with deliveries sequenced between 2018, 2019 and 2020.

To discover points of interest for tourists in the sector and plan the ideal route according to how much time the passenger wishes to spend around the sight in question.
A predictive multimodal GPS multimodal and the multimodal car
through a trip planner and browser incorporating live ridesharing. The application can interact with the car, for example to display directly on the dashboard how many parking spaces are available in the car pak or information on train times, etc.

Response time objective: >99% of trip searches in less than 500 ms depending on zones and modes
An organisational MaaS challenge: 6,000 man-days!
6,000 man-days spread over 3 years with 10-12 people working full time between now and 2019-2020.
And coordination with data, back office, front office, apps, UX (user experience), support and management teams.
